346-352/365

On Sunday we went for a drive to the country to help my Mum out. I always find it a little hard to go up there since Dad has passed away.  Despite him being a man of few words the house is so much quieter, his presence is so greatly missed.  I love going to the country to see my Mum, the fresh air and oh the green, it's looking beautiful again now just in time for summer.  The storms have brought welcome rain, a little ferocious at times though.  I still remember the time when I was in grade two and my Mum came to pick me up early from school so we weren't caught out in the storm, always school time... We've been keeping busy with our advent calendar although this year it hasn't met with the same enthusiasm as previous years.  I'm not sure we'll be doing it again next year but as the girls grow life grows and changes and you just have to go with the flow. One of the things I love (there are many) about Christmas is the lights, I keep the tree lights on all day as well as night.  I hope your week leading up to Christmas is a lovely one where you can find moments to pause and enjoy.

  1. What a beautiful little escape. Thinking of you at this time...it is a hard time of the year when you have lost someone dear.
I have found some things have changed too with little traditions...embracing the change is the only way to go.
Looks like you are nearly ready for you celebrations.....we are now on school holidays and the pace is a little slower. Happy weekend ahead to you all. Xxxxxx

  2. Another beautiful set of photos from your week Catherine.....look forward to continuing to follow your blog in 2015. It will take a long time before it doesn't hurt to have your Dad around and particularly when family gathers it's much harder. Have a great Christmas. Regards Kathy A, Brisbane
