This weekend I could feel Spring in the air, the sky vibrant blue and the temperature just perfect so I spent my days weeding and feeding, mulching and trimming. There is still much to do outside but if we have another weekend like we did this weekend you'll find me out there doing more of the same, getting dirty but feeling satisfied. We are already in the first week of August soon Winter will be long gone, I might miss it, just a little.
Some new hens brought home, they are slowly fitting in with our old hen who likes to let them know who's boss.
A curious looking little creature (Praying Mantis) I discovered and had to take a photo of except it wasn't quite as photogenic as I thought it might be, running away from me while I was trying to photograph it.
Look at your beautiful girl..it sure is nice to feel Spring in the air, it was so nice to be outside in the sunshine this weekend. x

ReplyDeleteWasn't the weekend glorious! We were out in the garden too, digging up more carpet and it is no where near as gorgeous as yours appears to be. BTW made your carrot cake with regular carrots and it was delicious and just founds some purple carrots today to make the purple/green version. melx

As for me, it was rainy here so I spent my weekend on the couch snuggling and napping with my two puppies. And crafting, of course... :)
I think that praying mantis shot is great! We finally had some lovely days here, where the temps stayed around the 80s, it was great to let the boy play outside all afternoon and not worry about him overheating.

ReplyDeleteHard to believe it is winter where you are. Winter is our only growing season and lasts for just a very short time. Sure could do with some cooler temps right about now. Even with so much to keep me busy, I'm feeling a bit stir crazy with staying indoors all the time. I need to commune with nature on a daily basis and sometimes that's hard to do -- like when we have dust storms. My boys will soon be 17 and 14 and I do wonder where the time has gone. If my youngest saw that praying mantis, he would run screaming. Imagine a boy hating bugs. Have a terrific Tuesday! Tammy

Our weekend was lovely - cold and a bit wet but we went for a picnic to Araleun Botanic Park with some friends and enjoyed being outdoors (despite the sprinkles of rain), making a fire and enjoying a yummy lunch. I wish I had more time to get out in our garden at the moment - time just doesn't seem to be there for anything other than cooking or washing lately! :)
ReplyDeleteCatherine Can I ask how you go with chooks and veggie patch sharing the same space. Do the chooks eat all the new seedlings and scratch around in the beds? Do you have to separate them, or the shade covers enough to keep them off? Thinking we will have to have bird/shade covers anyway as we also have loads of cockatoos and other birds that I am sure will wreak havoc given half a chance. Any advice appreciated. Your gardens look lovely and abundant.
