Snippets

Around here last week there was: 

 ∙ a spot of baking, orange poppy seed muffins, an orange icing was added later.

∙ a white peony I was waiting for it to open so I could take a photo for my mother in law, sadly it didn't but it was still lovely to admire.  They are one of my favourite flowers but my all time favourite is a rose.

∙ the view at breakfast when my oldest got her new tie for when she goes to senior school next year.

∙ some clay to make Miss 9's teacher a necklace for Christmas.  I'm thinking I might try a necklace with flat beads like this one.

∙ I also made a jar cosy to give as a gift for Miss 9's teacher along with a couple of tea lights candles.  I used this tutorial which was easy to follow and worked up quickly.  I'm not sure whether to make another because this one is a little loose? 

Have a wonderful week everyone.  It's our last week of school this week, on one hand I'm very much looking forward to having my girls home but would feel a whole lot better if a bit more Christmas shopping had been done!! I think I'll be braving the shops this week while they are still at school.

Snippets

This week there were many stormy skies and beautiful rainbows to follow.  We went from grass that looked like straw after a very dry October to green grass overnight.  It has been nice to get some relief from the heat and some water for the tank, so now there will be some more vegetable planting again. Miss Molly got a bath much to her dislike but boy does she smell and look a lot sweeter now.  And one of my Miss Maggie rabbits is complete.  The other little one is waiting for her dress to be finished, they have been so much fun to make. My week ahead will be a busy one getting in the Christmas shopping before my girls finish school in just 2 weeks!! Hopefully there will be some card making and class mate gift making, quilt sewing, a school breakfast and a carol night too, the joys of this time of year.

4-7. St John's Cathedral where the ceremony was held. A magnificent and beautiful place.

It was our first week of school holidays and they were lovely.  We really didn't get up to much, staying close to home baking, playing with play dough, painting, swinging and organising sleep overs. Saturday saw my hubby and I going out together for his work colleagues wedding, it was a beautiful evening with the bride and groom so full of love and happiness. Sunday was a lazy day at home not doing much at all just the way I like to end the week.  We have another week of holidays, so more sleep ins and no routine!

Today

* there was some work done on my shawl. I've finished the second ball of yarn, onto the third in a     contrasting colour. I'm hoping to finish it for next weekend fingers crossed.

* new seedlings chosen by the little miss and her Dad for me to plant.

* a nice clean cubby ready to be played in over the holidays, hopefully... They don't tend to venture in here so much these days sadly.

* new paint on the bedroom wall. Hubby started painting using a new tin of paint but alas it wasn't tinted strong enough so back to the hardware for another tin and a quick coat on the walls before it was time to start dinner.  There will be more painting next weekend, it will be worth the wait to see fresh paint on the walls after oh 12 years...time flies.

* my first ever pavlova! Not one of my favourite desserts but with a glut of eggs it was a perfect excuse to give it a try.  Sadly it collapsed but it didn't change the flavour and was a hit.

Snippets

It's been ages since I've shared little snippets of what's been going on around here. I suppose most weeks there hasn't been much going on really but this week I got the camera out some more and we went on a little adventure too so I have a few more snaps to share this week.

1. Lots of eggs so french toast for Sunday lunch.

2. My birthday present from Miss 13, hand painted and full of inspiring words.

3. Molly just loves having a hair cut, not.

4-7. Our adventure to the strawberry patch.

8-10. Stopped off at Kings Beach for some lunch and explored the rock pools.

11. I will be busy turning this into some yummy jam.

My Week

Another week has come and gone and finished on a happy note hanging out with an dear friend just like old times but probably with different conversations to what we once would have had hanging out in the city together. It was an emotional week again with much to comprehend, there were lovely conversations with my Dad albeit a little difficult to hear some of his words, a procedure not pleasant but necessary though giving me the positive reassurance all is ok, behaviours of growing girls to navigate and plumbing problems fixed now but the cost ouch!  All is well, challenging at times, full of learning but blessed all at the same time.  My life this week

1. Baking bikkies for the lunch boxes, these sugary, honey delights a favourite. Recipe can be found here.

2. Cutting into pretty fabric, a quilt in the making for Miss 9 a little surprise hopefully in time for Christmas.

3. Pretty packages in the mail.

4. A sunset this week.

5-7. A visit to the tea shop with my dear friend for a pot of tea and a scone.  A pretty little tea pot making it's way home with me.

8-12. We visited town hall and took a trip up to the new museum. The renovation is just stunning and walking through the Expo 88 exhibition was a trip down memory lane, boy time does seem to just fly by.
