A little Sunshine

I am lucky to have been given the sunshine award by Ashley over at Piper and Poppies, thank you for thinking of me and sending some sunshine my way.  Ashley has a lovely blog sharing snippets of her her sweet home and even sweeter little girl.  I thought I would play a little differently this time and share ten random things about me just in case you want to know;)

1. When I was nine years old I went to hospital to remove a benign tumour from my right leg.
2. My goal when I left school was to become a pharmacist but sadly my high school chemistry knowledge was lacking in a big way.
3. If there was one thing that I could do well it would be to dance, like those wonderful dancers  on shows like 'So you think you can dance'.
4. I have never been drunk.  I know boring, boring but for me, certain life experiences made me choose this direction.
5. Many years ago now I made the scary discovery of a break and enter in my own home.  I had dropped off Miss 3 now Miss 12 at daycare, went shopping and returned home to my back door open.  I walked through the house and found two young men in my room at the front of the house going through my drawers.  I fortunately had my brave pants on that day and told them to leave the house and thankfully they did and then I broke down in tears later.
6.  One of my favourite sports I learnt to play was Squash.  I would ride my bike up to our local centre on a Saturday morning, pay my way, have a drink and a packet of chips (Samboy Salt and Vinegar) and then ride back home.
7.  My first bike was a  yellow dragster my Dad picked up second hand but my favourite bike of all was the red Repco 10 speed racer I picked out for my 12th birthday.
8. I got my drivers license in a country town with no sets of lights, don't fear I am a good driver and had my required amount of lessons.
9. Berries of all types are a favourite of mine but my childhood favourite would have to be mulberries.
10. And 10 is the amount of years that I have been living in my current abode.  We took six months of many long hours renovating to make it our home and over the time we've been here it has continued to evolve.  I'm sure we could spend another 10 years renovating, that's the thing about old homes they are never really done but I love it with it's gaps and creaks all the same.

A couple of weeks ago Catherine from Life Collection gave me an award on her blog, thank you Catherine.  The award asks you to share 7 things about yourself. So here goes....

1.  I have a weakness for Green and Black's Organic White Chocolate.  It's my favourite on a Friday night to eat while having a cup of tea, watching television.

2.  My very first concert was when I was about 15years old with my Mum.  I went to see New Kids on the Block, I know, you can have a giggle;)

3.  I was lucky enough to be given my first car by my parents, a Holden Sunbird (Torana), so I could make my way to TAFE on my own.   It was a hand me down and I was ever so grateful to have my own car, I just wish that my Dad had gotten around to repainting it after he sprayed it in undercoat.  So for the couple of years I drove it,  I was driving a car that was painted an army green colour, very cool.

4. I am a night owl but if I had to choose my favourite time of day it would be first thing in the morning, just after the sun has risen.

5. My drink of choice is tea.  At the moment I am enjoying the taste of white tea.

6. I don't really like onion.  If it is cooked to the point where I can't taste the crunch of it I will eat it but if there is any crunch I won't eat it.

7. I love old homes.  My favourite type of home is a sandstone home.  I love the natural colour and rustic feel of them.

A while ago I was awarded the Stylish Blogger Award from two of my kind and thoughtful blog followers, Carmel who always inspires me with her beautiful crochet work and Louba who is soon to be married and shares her preparations and adventures.  Thank you so much ladies for thinking of me, I am really chuffed that you both thought of me:)  So seven things about me, let's start...


1.  I really enjoy listening to classical music especially when I'm driving in car, I find it calming but on the other hand I enjoy grooving to almost any 80's music, it's a bit daggy but I love it.
2. I really don't like wearing dresses, I'm more comfortable in my jeans, shorts and sometimes skirts.
3.  When I cook I always use a recipe.  I have my own recipes stored up in my head for spaghetti and tacos but to alter a recipe or make up my own is very rare.
4. When I was a child I only ever wanted to play the flute but didn't get the opportunity.  My big girl doesn't want to play the flute anymore so I'm keeping it just in case I pluck up the courage to give it a go, one day.
5. I grew up in the country for some of my teenage life, walking down to the local creek for a swim and enjoying my chooks, I was also known as the chook lady.
6.  Up until last weekend I hadn't been on a bicycle for over 4 years but got a new one and had a great time riding around the neighbourhood with my family although a bit wobbly at first.
7. I really enjoy having candles on at dinner time, for no reason in particular.  Recently I started using beeswax candles they burn evenly, smell softly of honey and are better for the environment then other wax based candles.

Hi there!

Hi there! I hope everyone has had a good week, mine was pretty productive since I had to ban myself from the computer (lol). But my internet is now bigger than before so hopefully I won't run out again, that will teach me for all the internet surfing!:)

While I've been away I've been getting into some craft projects on my to do list, so when my car was out for repair I had the girls home with me and what better way than to keep busy on a rainy day then to get the fingers creating. I spotted this button flower project a while ago and thought it would be a fun activity to do using up some of my button stash. I bought some flower wire from Spotlight to use for the project, it was thin enough to fit through the holes of the buttons and not too difficult to bend, perfect for this project. So the girls and I started creating a little bunch of flowers. It was a really fun activity to do with the girls because it didn't require too much adult intervention and they made something pretty to keep which is always fun for them.

I had an empty cocoa container and had wanted to cover it and reuse it for storing the girls pencils but once I had finished making the button flowers I thought it would make the perfect vase for our new button flowers. Now I have pretty flowers everyday to look at and they didn't cost much to make either.

I just wanted to say thank you to two of my sweet blog friends Flick and Tina for passing on an award to me. I am really touched the two of you nominated me :) and the comments that you leave me are always so positive and keep me smiling, thank you. Please check these lovely ladies blogs out, they really are two very kind and sweet ladies. So as part of receiving the award I am to write 10 things that make me happy and to nominate 5 blogs. 3. Craft and finding such a wonderful hobby that allows me to create things to give to others.
4. Gardening and it's fruitful rewards both in produce and by admiring plants and their beauty.
5. Cooking and providing healthy meals for my family.
6. My home. I love just being in it. We renovated it some time ago on a budget and I just love how it has changed into something I'm proud of.
7. Going for the 'Sunday' drive, as we called it when we were children, and exploring a new place.
8. I love to go bush walking and admiring nature and its beauty.
9. I love to drink tea. At the moment, Chai with a bit of honey and a dash of milk, yummy.
10. And the wonderful world of blogging, new friendships and inspiration.

1. Making and decorating birthday cakes. I love doing it and each year I take a photo of my creations, they really are fun to create.

3. Being intuitive. I can get a sense of how people are feeling, most of the time.
4. Cooking. I love to try something new and always have fun trying.
5. Remembering phone numbers. I memorize most of my family and friends numbers, not sure if that means I talk too much but it's handy.
6. Card making. I love to create cards that are individually made for someone and surprising them with something you've made for them.

My sweet blogging friend Amanda from Homely One has invited me to play a blogging game called Photo #6. I'm meant to go back to the 6th photo I ever uploaded to my blog, re-post it to share with you all, and remember the moment. So here it is...
I made these party bags or bag-a-lopes, because they are made using an envelope, for my Miss 6's 5th birthday party. We have a birthday party only every couple of years and on the alternate year we go to the park for lunch with family, which I love the best. I love coming up with things to make for their parties and especially the cake, that part is my favourite. It's hard to believe a year has already passed by and now she is six.

I'm supposed to pass this award onto six more people so I will leave this award open to any of the lovely people who take the time to stop by my blog. I think some of you may have already played so for those who haven't played this blogging game feel free to give it a go.
