11/365 Back to school ready

And just like that my youngest daughter is ready to head back to school in about a weeks time.  I can't quite believe how fast those weeks have passed since school broke up last year. I am going to miss her smiley company, those sleep ins and the relaxed routine.

Today marks the second day of December, how can that be we are so near to the end of the year.

Last week went by so fast Miss 10 had her end of year presentation night, a long night, one full of speeches and entertainment and proud Mum moments. There were many class parties, teacher gifts to buy, uniforms bought and ready for the new year, a bit of Christmas shopping done for the girls and friends to say goodbye to.  Last week was definitely an emotional one to see my girls grow another school year older, Miss 15 will be going into year 11 and Miss 10 into year 6.  And then dear friends we have come to know over the last 3 years are moving away. It is so sad to see them go but I know the move will bring wonderful things into their lives.  We now have friends to visit in country Victoria but not only that I am grateful to a beautiful family who have taught me so much and were always there when I needed them, I will miss them. There has been much activity outside in preparation for Christmas day, cleaning, raking, planting, binning and trimming, it's looking lovely and neat now for some rain to make it green! Last night we put up the tree and filled the advent calendar with lollies and activities to do over the coming month and took our Christmas family photo.  I also need to get some Christmas list making done, cards made and posted and more shopping done, the day will be here before we know it.  How has your week been?  Are you feeling organised or do you have lots left on your list to do? Have you put your tree up or do you wait till the 1st of December?

Last Day

Today I'm filled with a bundle of emotions.  It will be last day of year 2 for Miss 7.  She has had a good year this year with two wonderful teachers who have always been organised and full of enthusiasm all year.  Her friendships have been up and down but in the last term has developed a friendship with a sweet little girl who came over from New Zealand after the earthquakes. She is lovely and the two of them enjoy playing with each other and she has been happy to go to school. So these things fill me with happiness but there is a tinge of sadness, it will be her last year at the school.  Like I said this year has been a good one but last year wasn't and I think if it wasn't for two fantastic teachers then I probably would have left earlier.  The school has changed over the last couple of years and so we have decided it would be better for Miss 7 to join her sister at her school.  It was a big decision for us because we've been going to this school for 8 years now and going to a new system which I'm not as familiar with is a little scary but I think it's for the best. It's the end of an era, but the start of a new one with lots to learn.  So today is also my last day as well, it's hard sometimes to move on isn't it?

Today little Miss 7 had show and tell and had to memorise a poem to recite to the class.  She chose the poem Our New Puppy, perfect for taking Molly in as her prop.  They both did well, Miss 7 and Molly, getting lots of attention and pats from the children. It will surely be something she will always remember.  Do you remember taking your pet into school for show and tell?
