177-179/365 Creating

This post is all about being creative it would seem. The other day my youngest asked if I would make something for her teacher who is having a baby.  I suggested a blanket so I headed off to the shops with her to choose some yarn, also I bought some cardstock for some birthday cards and some of this gorgeous pink felt for a little coin purse I am going to make for my neighbours little girl who turns 6 soon.  Have you got any creative projects on the go?

206/365 'Ta dah'

My day started early, 6am to be exact, my big girl has decided to play netball so she was off on a bus to do her thing.  I was in shock I tell you that time of the morning is way to early for me  on a Saturday morning.  If I had the choice I would sleep in late but at the same time I really love the quiet beauty of the early morning too, but too often my bed time is late so I'm not so eager for the early morning start. I wish had  taken my camera with me, the sunrise made the prettiest pink and orange sky.
So onto my photos....I finished my cowl today, yeah!! A project just for me and just in time before Winter ends so I will at least be able to wear it for a few weeks.
And the baby blanket has been finished.  I had finished the knitting some time ago but hadn't sewn in the ends until today.  I am so happy this is complete within plenty of time before my friend's baby arrives in September.  Now the temptation to start a new project is great but I am going to go back to this one, the one that has been on the go for ummm a few years now.  I am hoping this new motivation will see me finishing it this Winter, I am going to give it a go.
I hope you are enjoying your Saturday.  The clouds have arrived here, sadly no rain has come with them yet and my girls are nattering away in the kitchen while making brownies, my perfect kind of day.
I'm joining Ginny today for her Yarn Along.

Monday, September 17

I've noticed lately a slowing down around me sometimes it worries me a little but I know that really none of us can sustain being busy all the time it's just not healthy.  So when the worry (or you could say the over thinking) creeps in I look to the photos over the weekend and smile at the moments that I need to focus my energy on, the special moments that have happened in my life.
Like getting to meet my new niece and see those sweet little new born hands and feet.
Seeing my other sweet niece taking off her shoes, toddlers are so very cute.
Getting the chance to go on a date with my hubby and enjoy the smell of the bay air.
Bees busily collecting nectar.
Watching my youngest enjoying strumming the guitar that belonged to her Dad.
And although no photos to share the zest that Spring has brought and the wonderful feeling that tidying and rearranging our home has made me feel this weekend.

What made you smile this weekend?

Monday, September 10

How was your weekend? It was a mixed bag for me but I'm not going to dwell on all that has happened, because amongst all that goes on there is always bits of sunshine to make you smile.  Here are a few snippets that made me smile.
Saturday night I was outside testing my new tripod (a birthday gift), trying to capture the night sky. It was cold but even more fun when you have your hubby keeping you company.
Miss Molly before a much needed bath, she also needs a clip too she's so fluffy at the moment.
The beautiful Spring weather we have been having.
It's all about the new baby, crocheting wash cloths out of this book,
prettying up some singlets and still working on the blanket...almost finished.
Still smiling and looking forward to a better week.
Wishing you a wonderful Monday.

Lots of cards

It's birthday month in our house this month so on Sunday afternoon I tucked myself away in the craft room and made a few male cards for the oldish, young and in between.
Some of them are embarrassingly late, my creative mojo has been missing lately sadly.
Tonight I think I'll write a little list of my must do's, hopefully that kick starts things.
Have a terrific day tomorrow my friends and to the new ones who have recently joined my blog, thankyou

My Creative Space

My space today looks less productive than I've been.  Yesterday I started on a baby beanie but counted how many stitches I had and discovered I had somehow increased it by one.  I know it's not a big deal but it's a gift so I've unravelled it, so tonight I'll start again, take a bit longer and count my stitches this time.....
A friend of my asked me recently if I could make some scalloped bunting for a baby due next month.  She doesn't know whether the baby is a boy or girl so she asked if I could use brown and orange in the bunting, I really love the combination.

In my creative space

today is the finished baby blanket. It was a learning experience crocheting my first blanket choosing colours and keeping up the dedication to finishing a project bigger than I've attempted in a while. Next time I'll plan a bit more when choosing the colours but other than one little mistake which I hope doesn't get found I really enjoyed seeing the blanket grow and take shape. To finish the edge I used this tutorial to pretty it up.

I'm trying to make most of the presents I give to friends children but there will be some bought too. So I can give them handmade, I'm trying to be proactive and start now by making a couple a week. Last week I made these two brooches using an idea I saw last week out at the shops. I used this tutorial for the flower and made one in each of the girls favourite colours for Christmas.

For my inspiration stop by Kirsty's.

Good Times

Hi there! Just a quick post tonight to say hi and to catch up with all my lovely blog friends. About a week ago I got to go and meet my friends new baby and have lots of cuddles. She was so cute and she was born slightly smaller than my big girl who was 7lb 8oz and when I held her she felt so tiny. I finished the bibs for her the night before and simply decorated a kraft gift bag I picked up at an art shop.
As you know I love to make cards and there are so many wonderful card makers out there to get inspiration from but there is one lady who I have been following for a long time and I love how she can mix colours together that I wouldn't have thought of and make them work beautifully. Her name is Dawn McVey and I am a huge fan so when she mentioned on her blog she was coming to visit Australia I was so excited. Later on she told us of her plans to visit the Gold Coast with a time to catch up with her for a coffee. The Gold Coast isn't too far from me and so I told my hubby I just had to catch up with her. After my nephew's baptism we headed to the coast and I got to meet Dawn and her husband Bart. She was so sweet and down to earth, she felt like a good friend you were catching up with for a coffee . I really had a wonderful time and met some other fellow blog ladies who were lovely to chat to as well.

It will probably be a little quiet around here for the next couple of weeks since the girls will be on holidays I'll take a little break but I hope to still stop by and say hi but if I don't have a safe and fun Easter with your family.

Talk to you soon.

I'm still here!

I'm sorry that I haven't been stopping by and saying hello to all of you but this month has been so busy and challenging trying to find a balance but things are slowing down and I'm getting on top of things. March will be a month to remember! Things are all good and because I haven't posted in a little while I have lots and lots of cards to show you. This month I have had to make cards for male birthdays, female birthdays, a new baby and sadly a death. I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with all the cards to look at because there are lots!:) Well I hope to get a bit more computer time in tonight so I can stop by everyone's blogs, I have missed saying hi to all of you. Thanks for stopping by!

Goodmorning!

Hello there everyone. Gee I can't believe I have finally motivated myself to post in the morning, usually I am a night time poster but today I have the finished baby presents to show you, all except one. Because my friend doesn't know what she will be having I stuck to green, orange and white getting the inspiration from some Kaiser baby paper. This is my first tag book and I have to say at first I was a bit daunted by the idea of doing it but once I got started the ideas just kept on flowing. (thank goodness all those magazines have come in handy, lol) I also kept the theme going by covering a tin bucket I found at Spotlight with some paper and ribbon, maybe it will come in handy later on and a nice way to give a gift. I plan on making a bib, putting in some little socks, the tag album and also the newspaper. I know the newspaper doesn't seem like the best gift but when the baby grows up they will know what happened in the world back when they were born. Hope you like the pictures, talk to you soon. Bye!
