177-179/365 Creating

This post is all about being creative it would seem. The other day my youngest asked if I would make something for her teacher who is having a baby.  I suggested a blanket so I headed off to the shops with her to choose some yarn, also I bought some cardstock for some birthday cards and some of this gorgeous pink felt for a little coin purse I am going to make for my neighbours little girl who turns 6 soon.  Have you got any creative projects on the go?

28/365 Birthday Sewing Complete

Today I stopped the procrastinating and got into my office and completed birthday sewing for my daughter with a few days to spare. I found the pattern for the pouch here if you are interested in sewing one for yourself or maybe for a gift.  The pattern doesn't quite give you as many measurements as I would like however you can easily work it out for yourself.  As I hadn't sewn it quite a while I did sew a little close to the zip so it does catch a little which is disappointing.  I am hoping that it doesn't cause to much of an inconvenience to my daughter when she uses it otherwise I may have to make another.  So this is the end result, filled with some emery boards, some scissors and some tweezers all of her very own.

I think she has more jewellery than I do, so so many earrings given to her as gifts.  I love that she keeps it safe in her music box, something all girls seem to love.

 She is always creating something.  She picked these roses on Sunday and made a little bit of art with them on her beside table.

I was looking on my favourite website and saw this and hinted a little about liking it.  And on Sunday morning it was all wrapped up just for me so today I tested it with my favourite blueberry smoothie.  I think it might have tasted even better...

Christmas Eve

 The last of the gifts have been sewn up and wrapped.

and the reindeer food has been sprinkled along the path, the food and letters have been put out for Santa. We're all ready and now just waiting for the visitor of the night to arrive!

I really enjoy visiting new blogs and discovering new things to make, and with Christmas not too far away it's always good to get some inspiration.  I thought I would share with you a few tutorials that I've bookmarked recently.

●Some plant markers using oven bake clay.  I really like this idea and so much nicer than the plastic plant marker you get when you buy the plant.
●These food covers are not only pretty but practical and much more environmentally friendly than using plastic food wrap.
●If you have fabric scraps lying around, these patchwork coasters are a great way of using them up.
●I think these ribbon bangles are a great gift idea for girls.
●Stationery is favourite of mine and this handmade notebook would make a sweet gift for a teacher who always has notes to write.

My big girl came home last week and asked if I could buy a gift for her friend's birthday.  After she did some research for me, I found out she likes the colour blue and owls.  I didn't really want to spend a lot of money so I went looking for something simple to make her. 

I found this simple coin purse tutorial I thought would suit a young girl and made it out of some scrap fabric I had at home.

A quick set of hair ties are always a good gift for a girl and

this little owl softie.  I've been wanting to make one for ages.  I think I'll make one for myself too:)

My Creative Space

It's all about getting into the knitting. I'm making my mother and my mother in law a dishcloth each for mother's day and I'm having a bit of fun trying out some new patterns. The already finished cloth is a pattern I found over at this lovely blog called Homespun Living and the second pattern I'm about to tackle today is one that can be found over at Pigeon Pair. I love the blue colour she used I decided I'd make one using the same. The cotton/bamboo mix thread is one I found at Spotlight and comes in some lovely autumn colours.

Goodmorning!

Hello there everyone. Gee I can't believe I have finally motivated myself to post in the morning, usually I am a night time poster but today I have the finished baby presents to show you, all except one. Because my friend doesn't know what she will be having I stuck to green, orange and white getting the inspiration from some Kaiser baby paper. This is my first tag book and I have to say at first I was a bit daunted by the idea of doing it but once I got started the ideas just kept on flowing. (thank goodness all those magazines have come in handy, lol) I also kept the theme going by covering a tin bucket I found at Spotlight with some paper and ribbon, maybe it will come in handy later on and a nice way to give a gift. I plan on making a bib, putting in some little socks, the tag album and also the newspaper. I know the newspaper doesn't seem like the best gift but when the baby grows up they will know what happened in the world back when they were born. Hope you like the pictures, talk to you soon. Bye!
