It was a long weekend for us, perfect for taking a day trip into the country, we love our drives. After a sleep in we headed out on the road, our destination, Queen Mary Falls but first we thought we'd take a few stops along the way. A lovely place to visit for a picnic is Lake Moogerah, our first stop for morning tea. It has pretty views and a little kiosk is there too if you want a bite to eat. We decided to take our time on our drive stopping along the way to take pictures, we were in no hurry it"s what I like best about long weekends. As we were winding our way up the mountain the temperature was dropping down to 8℃ not cold for the southern states but for us it felt cold up there. The clouds were low so rather than beautiful views to take photos of there was a group of friendly cows who were happy to pose for us instead. After much driving we made it to Queen Mary Falls. It was nice circuit to walk with the girls, not too difficult and the waterfall at the end was stunning. By this time it was getting late and we needed to stop for lunch but not before another stop at Daggs Falls and then onto Kilarney. It was a lovely little town to drive through but not much was open so we drove onto Warwick for a late lunch. It was a big day, we were tired but I loved just hanging out with my family, exploring our vast land. I am in awe every time we drive out to the country, the open expanses and the natural beauty that Australia possess. I feel very lucky to live here.
Catherine, the type of day you've described is exactly the perfect sort of Sunday in my books. We love going for drives out to the country too. All the spots you've described sound lovely, especially the waterfall in the shots above. We were going to go for a drive yesterday actually but it was SO windy and wet and wild weather so we decided to visit family instead. Thankfully, as the storms that hit Perth were pretty bad with gale force winds, not an ideal 'go for a drive day'.
ReplyDeleteThe rows of violas above are so pretty :) Enjoy your Monday xx
Beautiful photos Catherine, the falls look amazing. I think relaxing days out with family are the best!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little day trip Catherine...i remember camping at Lake Moogerah in my early 20's (why does that seem so long ago now lol)and woke to a mudslide running through our tent!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately it has been torrential rain here so not much getting done on our long weekend!
Great photos of your road trip, especially the waterfalls they look spectacular. Sounds like a perfect Sunday drive to me. I don't get out into the countryside as much as I'd like to because renovations have taken over my daytime activities but it won't be forever I keep telling myself. For now I'll pretend by looking at your photos! Enjoy your long weekend
ReplyDeleteImmagini da sogno, tantissimi complimenti

There is nothing better than road tripping adventures on long weekends. I barely managed to leave the house this one, so I am going to live vicariously through your beautiful photos. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic day you had with equally fantastic photos i might add on a day with pretty rubbish weather. We were hoping to take the kids to feed the birds at O'Reilly's but ended up braving Ikea instead with 3000 other people! melx
