We love pizza in this house, it's a regular on the menu. I used to buy the bases and then add the topping but when I found this Quick Mix Crispy Crust recipe in my trusty Women's Weekly Cookbook I've been making it ever since. When I make it I double the recipe even though it says it makes two 28cm bases I find it's quite thin. The other reason too is that I make one large pizza for hubby and I and then two smaller pizza's and then the girls get to choose what they want on their pizza, there's even some leftover for lunch the next day. You'll notice it's looks a little brown, today I used half white and half wholemeal spelt flour just to add a bit more fibre into our meal.
7g sachet dried yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
¾ cup warm water
2 cups plain flour
pinch salt
Stir water into yeast and sugar, make well in centre of sifted flour and salt, stir in yeast mixture, mix to firm dough. Divide dough in half, roll each half large enough to cover base of two 28cm pizza pans.
I hope you had a great long weekend and then you got some moments of sunshine to enjoy.♥
Hi Catherine. I love the wholemeal pizza base. I think that's what Earth n Sea pizzas always use. I admire your brilliance in making your own bases. I buy the bazaar brand ones at Woolies!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing This Catherine :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this recipe. I only recently dabbled in a yeast containing recipe and find it all quite exciting. Can I ask a silly question- do you have to cook these at all before the toppings or do you just throw everything on as is? Also how long do they normally need in the oven? thanks, melx
ReplyDeleteYum -homemade pizza! I would love to build a pizza oven....one day! I think spelt flour is really yummy too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! x
Pizza features regularly here too...I make a similar base to which my children add their own toppings :)

This is exactly my recipe, but I replace part of the water with some olive oil. For my taste 2 TBS of oil will do.
