Royal Vale fine bone china plate
Today I was on a mission to find a pretty plate and an old knife to use on the weekend when I take along a cheese ball to my friends baby shower. Did I really need it, no not really but I wanted something old, I've grown to love old things they have a history to them, a nice feel to them. Holly Hobbie vase
I don't really have many things given down to me from family so for me some of these new treasures I want to hand down to my girls. Avon candy dish with missing lid
They may have a past history which I don't know but I think makes them even nicer and now we will treasure them and we will be a part of their history.Do you have many family treasures handed down to you?♥
What a gorgeous piece of milk glass and I really love that plate too. I have a set of gorgeous pink glass parfait cups from my grandmother, unfortunately broke 1 of the 4 in my twenties at a dinner party but loved using them. melx
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous treasures I am lucky to have some lovely things handed down to me from family and could never part with them. Enjoy your day my friend.
ReplyDeleteAlways Wendy
These are lovely. I love to mix the old with the new. It makes things so interesting and even if I don't know the history I like to imagine what it would've been x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful treasures Catherine. I love Miss Holly. I had her on my bedspread as a little girl. i too love things with a history and am fortunate to have inherited many special treasures from my Nonna.
ReplyDeleteLovely finds Catherine! I have some lovely pieces from my Nanna's place like teacups and spoons and ornaments. I've always wished when my grandfather passed away that I'd appreciated the older items from his home more - sadly, I didn't have my own house then and didn't have an appreciation for antiques as I do now...
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the Holly Hobbie vase. I used to beg my dad to buy me something Holly Hobbie when we went to town together. He was a bit of a soft touch. I don't know what happened to it all.
ReplyDeleteI have some things to hand down, but not as much as I would like. One thing I have done for my daughter which I started last year when she turned nine, is to start her a crazy tea set. Each year on her birthday she gets a pretty teacup, saucer and cake plate. They don't have to match, so by the time she is grown she will have a beautiful amount of china of her own. I'll add in a sugarbowl and a creamer and a teapot and a big cakeplate later. One of the girls I used to work with told me about it and I thought it was such a beautiful thing to do and would be a lovely tradition to start.
