I was sitting at home looking at the clock hoping the rain would ease up in time to pick the girls up from school but alas it didn't. As I was driving to school the rain became heavier but rather than feeling glum about it and it's timing I decided to look for all of the lovely I saw instead. Like.....
♥ the streams it made in the gutters along the side of the road, perfect for floating leaves.
♥ the tippy, tappy sound on my umbrella and the roof.
♥ the smell of cypress pine in the air.
♥ the freshness of the air on my skin.
♥ the droplets of water making patterns on the leaves, falling to the ground when the breeze blew.
♥ the reflections in the puddles, perfect for jumping in.
♥ the shades of grey along the horizon.
♥ the life the rain brings, rejuvenating, renewing.
♥ the glistening water that sparkles at the sun hits it.
What do you enjoy about the rain?
I love the sound of the rain on my umbrella when I am huddled underneath it. I love the way it dries on my daughter's hair making it all curly and messy. And I love the sound of it on my kitchen skylight, whilst I am warm and cooking something lovely undreneath it. Thanks for sharing such lovely photos Catherine. x
ReplyDeletewe had so much rain in the last 3 months that it is difficult to find today something that I enjoy in it!
ReplyDeletesuch soft colours and lines in your shots, it is difficult not to see rain in a romantic light! My most favourite thing about the rain is the smell, particularly when much wished for rain comes after a dry spell and the rain finally satisfies the thirst of the land .. and the smell is that fresh, sweet, wet smell like nothing else....
ReplyDeleteLovely! xx
I always adore the sparkley water drops when the sun shines through after a rainy night or even after an afternoon shower and the sound of rain lulls me into a deep sleep...not to mention all that G has already said above!
ReplyDeleteI was just admiring your rainy day photos...I was too busy working inside with the heating blaring to venture out too far with my camera. I do love winter tough..just need to hurry up and get the winter gear out. xx
ReplyDeletethe snuggling indoors, the smell of life emerging, watching the garden burst forth, sparkling plants and the soft fall of misty rain on my face, oh and watching the BOM weather radar.
ReplyDeleteI love how it brings everyone closer on the couch and creative with their games....I also love your photos!
ReplyDeleteWe had the same sort of day here yesterday and i must admit i loved it because it watered all my new seedlings as well as the vegie patch and that was one less job i had to do!!I was also very thankful that i was able to stay at home and watch the rain with a cuppa in hand while playing with my girls rather than stuck in an office!
ReplyDeleteLove your little list and your pics tell a wonderful story as always!
Rain can be so good... especially after a long time without it. We've had some good showers here this week too. Loving your photos so much - as always.
ReplyDeleteWe have had quite a lot of rain lately. I love the sound of it falling on our tin roof - soothes me to sleep every time.
ReplyDeleteI love the rain... I do enjoy the same things about it. Everything seems so clear and fresh after it :) ahh.. your post made feel really cozy right now!
ReplyDeleteAlways rain at school pick up time! I am worrying less about protecting myself from it and enjoying getting a little wet some days. It surely doesn't hurt.
ReplyDeleteNothing nicer than rain on the roof, lulling you to sleep.....
ReplyDeleteIts just started here.....goodnight!
Have a lovely weekend x
What a lovely post Catherine and such a positive spin on what could have been an annoying down pour (I always find picking Grace up from kindy so hard when it's raining!) For me, I love the smell of the rain, the sound of it falling on the roof or beating against the window when I'm warm and snuggled up in bed and the permission I give myself to sit by the fire with a cuppa and something to read when it's wet weather :) We've had a bit of wet weather here over the last two days too... not wet today but absolutely freezing! :) Wishing you a beautiful weekend ahead xx
ReplyDeletei love the sound of rain when im cosy and running in the rain is the best x
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing quite like watching and listening to the rain when you're cosy inside. Even getting caught out in the rain isn't too bad if you've got somewhere to shelter!
