Spring has arrived in my garden and I'm all smiles.  You see I consider myself a novice gardener so anytime I see my plants flowering when they are supposed to it makes my happy and hopeful that we will all be able to enjoy something homegrown to eat. So come for a walk,
I've got zucchini flowers
shallots (spring onions) flowering
an imperial mandarin
a lemon
my rosemary bush
and a small posy of flowers I collected, jasmine and a pretty blue flower. (not sure of its name)
I've also got a few blueberries growing too.

What have you got growing in your garden?

  3. Oh, how wonderful, Catherine. We only have a small courtyard, but I have been investing in pots of herbs, some spinach and kale. I have also got lettuce growing. Isn't it amazing to grow your own produce?

  10. Beautiful photos! It's so rewarding when your garden does what it supposed to - I'm still trying to teach mine lol. My zucchini plants are so small you can barely see them through the mulch! Happy weekend :)

  11. Ohhh yummy! I planted baby spinach, zuchini seed and pumpkin seed this week and will add them to my tomato's, lettuce, peas, carrots and strawberries. I went out today and removed almost all of the flowers and fruit from my little lemon tree on advice to sacrifice all first year fruit for a stronger root system. It was hard. I left one little lemon on there ....

  12. I am in the novice gardener category too and just like you I get so excited when something flowers or flourishes and grows well rather than withers and dies!! Your spring garden is looking great - blueberries, how exciting!!

  14. I went to a great talk on "Supermarket your backyard" run by our local council yesterday. Lots of ideas and tips about our veggie garden. Only one problem and that is trying to stop our chickens from treating the new veggie patch as their mud bath!
