Since last year I've had Soulemama's lip balm recipe bookmarked. I have so many things bookmarked under different headings that I'd like to try but you know how it is there are just so many hours in the day to do things and so many more things I'd like to try. This year though I was determined to give lip balm making a try. I did some more searching and came across another recipe I decided to use this time but there are many out there. I'd like to give this one a go too but thought it might be cheaper to stick to more basic ingredients for now. I ordered my little jars online from Heirloom Bodycare, the beeswax I purchased from here and the other ingredients from my local organic shop. Making the lip balm took no time at all and just with some simple little decorations added it's now ready to gift. I did have a computer generated label I created and I really wanted to use but when I went to print it out, there was, surprise surprise no ink it's always the way. Oh well it's all homemade that's for sure. For more creative spaces stop by here to be inspired.

ReplyDeleteLovely idea I looked to source the tins and will have to find someone in Australia with tins similar before I venture into this idea, but I really like the idea of making your own balm

I'm the same Catherine, my bookmark list is huge!!! One day I keep saying. Homemade lip balm that is a great gift idea. My daughter made some a while ago, it smelt rather incredible, she made it from a kit she was given. Enjoy your weekend:)Nx
ReplyDeleteps..I have a giveaway over on my blog, competition finishes on Sunday, thought you might be interested.
Very clever! They will be lovely handmade gifts. And I also must confess I love magazines. At the moment my favourite is Molly Makes from the UK.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for Christmas gifts Catherine. I too feel as though I have so many projects all waiting to be tried, and just not enough time! x
ReplyDeleteYes, I too have that many ideas bookmarked that I have lost track.
ReplyDeleteLip balm has been on my ever growing list for ages now and only yesterday I ordered a few things from a local Perth company. I went the easy route and ordered their lip balm base..beeswax, coconut oil, coconut butter and almond oil so hopefully it turns out okay.

How wonderful that you were able to make your own lip balm. Definitely a great little gift. Don't think we can get beeswax here. I can't stand to have dry lips. During the week, I touch up my lipstick and at home I am always putting on lip gloss. Even before I go to bed. :) Have a good day. Tammy
ReplyDeleteSuch a clever thing to do..I love the look of those little pots of goodness!
ReplyDeleteNever enough time. Will be even less once I add this to my list! What a lovely thing to gift Catherine. Thank you for all the links. And for your beautiful words the other day. x
