Thursday, December 6

It was such a hot day here the other day so we kept ourselves indoors enjoying the cool and watching a few Christmas dvds.  The last few days we've been staying close to home, I think the girls are enjoying just resting after a long year, it's certainly fine with me.  I had bought some clay recently wanting to try my hand at making necklaces for Christmas gifts so when it was hot outside I sat inside cool and got busy creating.  It was so much fun sitting there making beads, Miss 8 joined me and made a few herself creating a necklace for Mrs Claus she tells me.  Most of the beads I made were to make necklaces but I also made a set of small pink beads to put into a kit for a little girl so she could make her own necklace.  That's another Christmas present now checked off the list!
On the weekend I was sitting there trying to come up with present ideas, I often find that the hardest part of Christmas shopping is the choosing.  Anyway I did some internet searching and thought a craft kit might be a good solution to the handmade gift giving I enjoy doing but haven't had time to do this year.  I remembered how much the girls enjoyed making friendship bracelets when Miss 13 had her birthday so I thought I could put together a kit for a couple of girls as gifts.  So I went down to my local craft store and collected some supplies, I'll print off some directions to put inside the box too and that's another couple of gifts done now.
Tuesday afternoon I went outside to feed the chickens only to look up and see some sign writing in the sky.  I love the light late in the afternoon and the temperature, it's such a nice time of day to be outside I think even the perfect time for gardening this time of year .
Wishing you a lovely Thursday.♥

  6. The craft kits are a brilliant idea Catherine and one I must file away for future reference. I am loving all the clay beads I have seen floating around...my daughter wants to have a go herself over the holidays so we have been slowly getting a nice selection of colours ready.
Instagram was bombarded with the sign writing the other night...it was quite spectacular :)

  9. I love your clay beads - am very interested to know more about them - what clay did you buy and do you need to bake it or is it air dry? I love all the shades you've made, especially the soft yellow. I think your craft kits are a wonderful idea- I was thinking the other day that if anyone asked me what to Grace, I was going to suggest a bag of craft stuff - paper, pom-poms, pipe cleaners etc. You are so good with your handmade gifts, I'd hope to make more myself this year but it hasn't eventuated. Perhaps next year :) Enjoy your Thursday evening x

  15. I think a little friendship bracelet is the perfect girlie gift. I wouldn't mind learning to do that too (having missed the craze the first time around!). I have some clay at home for necklaces and I really need to get to that for the presents pile. Maybe this weekend? Yours look very fine!

  16. A craft kit is a great gift idea! So clever. It's still a handmade gift that way, only it's made by the recipient. I love the beads you made too. I recently bought some clay, but wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it. Jewelry making is a fun option. Have a great weekend. :)
