Our Spirit of Christmas

It's a tradition in our house to put up the Christmas tree on the 1st of December.  So last night the boxes came out of storage and the decorating began, even Molly got into the spirit of things care of Miss 7.

Miss 7's cross stitch stocking made by hubby's mother.

Decoration made also by my mother in law.
Miss 12's cross stitch stocking made by my hubby's mother.

We've had many of our decorations for some time, some of mine particularly are quite old.  My mother began the tradition with my brother and I to buy a decoration for each of us every year so when we moved out of home and had our own tree we would have decorations to decorate our tree and memories.  Now that we've grown she still continues the tradition with our girls, they get excited each year when the receive a new decoration and when they pull out the others and remember them with fondness.
And here is our advent calendar from last year waiting for me to make three more envelopes.  I think I was late last year and so I missed the first few, oops.

I hope you are enjoying getting into the festive spirit at your house

Playing along with Vic today too.

  13. Your Advent envelopes are very pretty. Do you hang them or store them in a basket or something. I like the idea of buying a decoration each year, my Aunty used to do it for my cousin. I think I'll start this tradition with my girls as it's such a lovely one x
