2012

I thought I'd pop in for one last hurrah for the year.  It's hard to believe that another year is already upon us.  This year for me personally has been a challenge.  I wrote my goals at the end of last year with hopes of achieving some of them but I haven't achieved any.  I'm not disappointed in myself, I think it's important to have something to strive for but the news of my father's illness in February really threw me and then my mother also experienced a major health issue later in the year, it was a challenging year.  I think after that along with other daily issues I really struggled to pull myself up and dust myself off.  Although I didn't achieve what I set out to do I know that with the challenges I have faced I have grown and learnt so much.
I have realised that I have a passion for photography, that I am a strong person, that I have family and friends who are their to support me and that no matter what happens there is so very much in my life to be grateful for. I am glad to have experienced 2012 but I am looking forward to a new and improved 2013.  I have decided that I would set myself a few goals for next year which I am looking forward to achieving.
● Make cushions for the house.  Decorate the front porch.  Make the house reflect a little more of my personality. Enjoy the role of being a homemaker.
● Read photography books, take notes as I go, practice, practice, practice my photography.  Enter in more competitions.  Take my photography to the next level.
● Take care of my physical and mental health. Make appointments for doctors for yearly checkups.  Find a yoga class for me to attend once a week.  Have one massage this year. Step back and constantly evaluate progress.
● Challenge myself to make a knitted item and one sewn item of clothing just for me this year.
● Get more sleep.  Establish a new routine where lights are off by 10:30 pm weekdays.
● Garden to feed my family.  Make a garden journal.  Start a productive compost.
And my word would be to Enjoy.  Enjoy achieving my goals, enjoy my family, enjoy my life.

Thank you to each and everyone who has taken the time to stop by and bring a smile to my face with your kind words I am truly grateful.  I'm looking forward to 2013 here I hope you will too.
Happy New Year!!

  3. What an amazing fireworks photo!! Catherine, I don't think it matters entirely whether we actually achieve the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the year, but more that we grow and learn from our progress, our shortcomings and our attempts. I think that the various aspects of your life you are working towards improving in 2013 are all important ones and all very achievable. I too am hoping to take more control of my health (I'd love to find a yoga class eventually too). Your focus word for the year is a good one. Mine for 2013 is 'nurture'. I hope your year ahead is filled with happiness and contentment my friend xx

  8. Sleep and exercise are on my list too Catherine. Sleep especially (there I go again putting exercise to the bottom of the list!) - very easy to sit up beyond 11pm. Wishing you a lovely year ahead (and if you need any pointers on the gardening and compost front, please just yell.) x
