25/365 My Dad

Today marked the 4 year anniversary of my Dad's passing.  It's hard to know how to think about such a day.  It is a day that brings much sadness, wishes that he was still here to be a part of our lives.  It is also a day to remember what a great life he had and how grateful I was to call him my Dad.  I think as time passes I learn to accept a little more that life throws things in your path that you never expected but to take each day and be grateful for what it holds.

One Year On - Remembering my Dad

 Grief is like the ocean
it comes in waves
ebbing and flowing.
Sometimes the water is calm
and sometimes it is overwhelming.
All we can do is learn to swim.

The last year can be best described by the words in the poem above.  Living without a loved one who has always been there your whole life is hard, a piece of the puzzle is missing.  Some days you can sit and smile and other times you cry and desperately want him back and wonder why this had to happen, why did his journey have to end.  The sad reality is that this is now part of my life story that I will now carry with me on my life journey.  Life goes on without Dad here with us in the present but he will be forever in my heart.  Today we came together as a family not to remember that today was the day he passed but to remember his life. To remember we are all a part of him that still lives on, and that we will never forget him.
Love you Dad.

244-254/365 Busy, busy...

I seem to have made it a bit of a habit to post once a week.  Last week started off on a busy note and ended on one too.  Sunday was father's day, a nice day but a hard day too as it was my first without my Dad.  So my mission was to keep busy and fuss over the most awesome Dad in my girls lives and let him know how much we love him.  We took a drive to a new park, had a salad roll and a few lollies and a big walk.  If you live in the Brisbane area it's well worth a visit particularly if you like a walk or to ride your bike. Today saw my Miss 10 going off to camp  so I was busy sewing her some new pj pants (which I ran out of time to photograph). It seems to be a bit of a tradition  I made her some new ones last year for camp too. So today I waved her goodbye, watching her look out at me with her upset face, I do hope she has a good camp. It doesn't seem to get any easier saying good bye to my girls....  So how has your week been?  Have you got any plans for the week ahead?
I'll be busy finishing this little bag for my niece for her upcoming birthday party, getting a haircut and catching up with a friend which I'm looking forward to and the usual life things that keep us busy.
Have a great week everyone!!

120/365 Green is good!

It was a tiring morning this morning. I had a long drive home and after missing out on lunch needed something to give me a boost so I stopped off at my favourite shop and got myself a green smoothie.  I do love my smoothies. If you enjoy eating your greens I tried this new recipe tonight.  I really enjoyed it although a little bit of sauce might have made it a little easier to eat as it was a bit dry but still tasty.

79-83/365

My morning ritual.  Porridge, oats soaked the night before, eaten with maple syrup, cinnamon and raw milk.
I've been working a little on the shawl.  I'm up to the picot stitch with only half the border left to go.
We have just 2 weeks left of school so I've bought these little eggs to fill with just a few treats to hand out at school.
These two did a fun run together this afternoon, I'm very proud of them both.
It was an emotionally hard day today going through my father's clothes, it was just too hard for Mum.....I came home with this vintage treasure of Dad's, the Kodak camera on the right.  And my Nan gave me my Pop's old camera as he no longer uses it.  I have quite a few cameras now, plenty I would say.

Ahh it's Monday tomorrow again already.  May your Monday be a lovely one.

Dad, your guiding hand on my shoulder will remain with me forever. Author Unknown.

It is with a heavy heart I say that my Dad lost his battle with cancer, he fought with all that he had but could not win. Words cannot describe the sadness that fills my heart. I am taking
solace knowing that he is now at peace. Dad I miss you dearly but your voice I will always hear and your love I will feel in my heart.

I love you.
