55/365

We decided to brave the miserable weather and go out for the day together to the Mind Body Spirit Festival.  We wandered up and down the isles stopping to look at the crystals, take in the smells and get a little taste test too.  My youngest and I both had an aura photo taken which was fun and interesting.  After our wander we needed some lunch so headed to West End for a quick bite to eat and came across this gorgeous plant shop.  My youngest wanted me to take a photo of her so I plucked up the courage to ask the person working there if we could take an picture and she was more than happy for us to which was nice.  Did you do anything different over the weekend?

Blue

As a gift for our 40th birthday we were given a whale watching adventure.  The tickets were just for the two of us but we thought it would be much more fun going on an adventure with the girls.  So we all got up early for us, on Sunday morning and drove to the coast to board the boat for our cruise.  Now I have to confess I am not a big fan of going out on boats at all.  Once when we were in Perth on holiday, we went over to Rottnest Island on a day that was lets say not ideal to go out on the water.  The boat we went on was the last to go out on the water and the swell was 6 meters high!!!  So when we walked on board and were told we should take sea sickness tablets I kind of freaked out as you can imagine.  Thankfully the swell was not nearly that high and I did have some moments on the way out but everything worked out well.  We saw five whales, some breached and some waved.  We saw a mother with her calf and a juvenile escort to help protect them on their journey south.  It was freezing out there on the boat and back on land with the odd sprinkle of rain.  We didn't let it dampen our day out though and afterwards enjoyed fish and chips for lunch before making the trek back home.  It really was a great day out together, sharing experiences and chatting always.  I hope that we always go on adventures together even when the girls grow up and become adults.

Father's Day

For Father's Day this year I asked my hubby what he wanted to do for his special day. I thought he might have chosen the beach but instead he came up with a drive to the country, Mt Barney National Park.  It's been on his list of things to do for a while he said....mmm.  So as requested we made the drive to Mt Barney which was pretty good till we got to the dirt road, I really don't like dirt roads much.  Anyhow we set up the bbq and had some lunch before we made the drive to our second destination for our walk.  It wasn't any kind of walk it was a 8.2km walk and a grade 4 track so lots of steep hills and slowly going down, crossing a little creek and climbing through rocks.  Lucky it was Father's Day and well it was nice to be outdoors together too so it was a good day.

I hope you enjoyed your Father's Day too.

267/365 'Have you ever been in an ad'

Today marked the first day of holidays for us here.  Miss 15 wanted to go to training and although it wasn't my ideal start to the day (I had visions of a sleep in today) I took her.  Miss 10 and I headed out to do our usual grocery shopping while she was training.  With list in hand we wandered around and noticed a camera crew videoing staff serving customers.  Miss 10 wanted to go over to get into the ad, me not so much.  We joked as we walked around about looking our best just incase never did I think that we would be actually in the ad.  So minding our own business we were doing our shopping when we got approached to be a part of the ad. Oh dear being in an ad when I was a child I would have jumped at the chance but as an adult not so much.  I wasn't keen at all but Miss 10 definitely was so I gave it a go anyway.  I was asked questions, we wandered around crossing groceries off the list, doing lots of smiling, having the camera in front of us and behind us, watching us pay and follow us to the car and as a special bonus my trolley of groceries was paid for by them!!!  We may or may not be in the ad who knows, there might just be a snippet of us shopping,  but if you see it try not to giggle too much, I know I'll have to try not to giggle. So today I learnt to go out of my comfort zone that's for sure which even if nothing else I'm glad I did it and smile a lot when I'm shopping!

116/365

(A lovely photo by my hubby, kind of.  I am not the most photographic preferring to be behind the camera but glad to have a photo of myself for my girls just the same. )
Over the holidays we all really wanted to go to the beach but just ended up running out of time you know how things go holidays take ages to arrive and then disappear too fast.  This weekend though we made the long drive down the coast to Palm Beach to get the sand between our toes, the wind in our hair and for just my hubby and Miss 10 a swim.  There was then a bit more exploring down the road to a beach with a rock called Elephant Rock which was fun to explore.  We were even given some entertainment while we were there too, a surfing competition.  I wouldn't choose to go to one but when you happen upon one it's always good to experience something new and different.

Have you been enjoying your long weekend?

And thank you so much for all of your kind words about finally finished shawl, I so appreciate them.

It's been ages since I've shared little snippets of what's been going on around here. I suppose most weeks there hasn't been much going on really but this week I got the camera out some more and we went on a little adventure too so I have a few more snaps to share this week.

1. Lots of eggs so french toast for Sunday lunch.
2. My birthday present from Miss 13, hand painted and full of inspiring words.
3. Molly just loves having a hair cut, not.
4-7. Our adventure to the strawberry patch.
8-10. Stopped off at Kings Beach for some lunch and explored the rock pools.
11. I will be busy turning this into some yummy jam.

Wishing you all a beautiful week.

Adventuring

Before hubby heads back to work we headed out for one more day of adventuring.  He loves to keep moving, he doesn't like to sit still for too long and we didn't sit idle for too long today except for the driving part. We headed  north and decided to do a bit of bush walking which is always a fun way to get some exercise, this time around the Glass House Mountains.  It's been many years since I've taken the time to stop by here, the last time was when I was a teenager and that was a while ago. Then a short drive  to the Ewen Maddock Dam for a bit of lunch, organic sausages on the bbq, cut up salad and some bread. While we were in the area I remembered a shop a friend of mine told me about called The Natural Foodstore in Forest Glen. Oh my I enjoyed browsing through the shop, there was soo much I could have bought but settled for mangoes and a rockmelon,  some yummy tea and some organic grapefruit essential oil to add to some more lip balms I would like to make. I said to my hubby that if we lived closer I would surely be visiting often, luckily it's a long drive for us.
We headed home after that in a car minus air conditioning just the old fashion four windows.  I didn't realise how much we heavily rely upon it, it's not much fun without it so off to the mechanics it will need to go.

How was your day today?  I hope that you were able to keep cool where ever you are, it's been so terribly hot in this country of ours lately, too hot.

Take care♥
