68/365 Me and My Family

Some happy snaps of me and my family since yesterday was a very unexciting day filled with washing and all things housework.  I didn't technically take a photo yesterday but in my defence I often share more than one a day so hopefully this still counts in the whole 365 photo project:)

39/365 Me

I'm don't usually post photos of myself but I thought why not, today I had my hair cut so it was looking lovely and now you can put a face to a name. And whilst doing my photo project this year I wanted to challenge myself and my photography. I might have to try this portrait taking a little more often during the challenge I think.

300/365

Since I was a young teenager I can remember loving the art of calligraphy.  I'm not sure whether I actually attempted do calligraphy back then though.... I can though fondly remember my father carving a pen from a found feather and the ink well he passed on to me from when he was a young boy at school, I still have both things. I must have mentioned my love for calligraphy, as my mother in law bought me a calligraphy set as a Christmas gift.  I pulled them out recently and tried my hand at it after seeing Christina's blog post on 'Feeding Your Creativity'. As much as I tried I wasn't quite achieving the look I liked.  After seeing an article in the newspaper  I decided to email Louise from Floralovely  so when the next workshop was announced I could book in.  So that brings me to yesterday... I set off with my GPS all ready to direct me to Vieille Branche where the workshop was being held.  It was a beautiful place full of old wares, delicious hot chocolates (coffee and tea too) and pastries for us to eat during our break. Louise was lovely sharing her journey and talking us through the technique of creating her beautiful writing, watching over our technique and giving us helpful pointers. It really was the perfect afternoon spent feeding my creativity, learning something new, meeting new people and having delicious treats to eat.  I am so glad I went and grateful to be able to go, it felt good to get out and do something new for myself.
What do you do to feed your creativity?

267/365 'Have you ever been in an ad'

The crafting aftermath

Today marked the first day of holidays for us here.  Miss 15 wanted to go to training and although it wasn't my ideal start to the day (I had visions of a sleep in today) I took her.  Miss 10 and I headed out to do our usual grocery shopping while she was training.  With list in hand we wandered around and noticed a camera crew videoing staff serving customers.  Miss 10 wanted to go over to get into the ad, me not so much.  We joked as we walked around about looking our best just incase never did I think that we would be actually in the ad.  So minding our own business we were doing our shopping when we got approached to be a part of the ad. Oh dear being in an ad when I was a child I would have jumped at the chance but as an adult not so much.  I wasn't keen at all but Miss 10 definitely was so I gave it a go anyway.  I was asked questions, we wandered around crossing groceries off the list, doing lots of smiling, having the camera in front of us and behind us, watching us pay and follow us to the car and as a special bonus my trolley of groceries was paid for by them!!!  We may or may not be in the ad who knows, there might just be a snippet of us shopping,  but if you see it try not to giggle too much, I know I'll have to try not to giggle. So today I learnt to go out of my comfort zone that's for sure which even if nothing else I'm glad I did it and smile a lot when I'm shopping!

234/365 'A Mini Photo Session'

I really want to take my photography to the next level.
I really want to work through the nerves and self doubt.
I really want some day for people to visit my website and enjoy my photography.
So today I put on my new lens and followed my little one around.
She was a gem and did her thing while I did mine.
I practised different angles capturing everyday moments, they are the ones I enjoy seeing most.
I will keep on practising, I know that is the only way I will get better and gain confidence.
Thank you again little one for being my model.

Thank you to the lovely people who left messages of support on my last post, I really do appreciate your caring words.  I know that I have talked about my Dad a lot recently, it is on my mind always and it is a challenge working through my emotions. I think with events like Easter and birthdays it just makes working through those emotions a little harder but I am getting there slowly and I really appreciate you all being here with me during this time.  My blog is all about me and my life, sad and happy. I won't always talk about my feelings regarding my Dad but for those who have experienced a loss so close will understand the journey and for those who have not may find comfort knowing that all you feel is perfectly normal too. My focus is to talk about more happy because there is so much  I have to be happy and grateful for, my family and my friends and you my blogging friends, thank you. So here is what the last few days looked like for me.
Card making for mother's day.
Dinner out to celebrate my Dad's birthday.  We had such a wonderful time, something we will definitely be doing again next year.
The day spent with my mother in law for mother's day.  Tomorrow we will be at my Mum's celebrating with her both mother's day and her birthday, always such a busy time of year.

Have a wonderful, wonderful day to all the mother's out there celebrating mother's day tomorrow.

86/365 'Me'

(My kindy photo my Mum gave me on the weekend)
The other day Sarah from Molly and Beans gave me an award and asked if I would answer a few questions.  I thought it might be fun joining in, so here are my answers perhaps you might like to join in too.  Thank you Sarah for nominating me and asking me to play along.

1. What is your favourite piece of clothing currently?
If I can class shoes as clothing I would have to say it's my salt water sandals. I have a tan pair and a red pair, I have resisted buying anymore for now.
2. Do you have any pets?
We have two chickens, two siamese fighting fish and one dog Molly who is a Moodle.
3. What was your favourite holiday?
My favourite holiday was when we explored some of Tasmania which was around four years ago now. I would love to go back and explore some more.
4. Sweet or savoury?
That's a hard one.  I'm not one for lollies but I love chocolate especially with a cup of tea but if I go to a party I usually gravitate towards savoury rather than sweet. I have a bit of a thing for salt and vinegar chips and sweet chilli too.
5. Why did you start a blog?
I first started my blog as a way of sharing my cards and craft, from there it has grown to sharing more about my life and loves.
6. What is your favourite TV program?
My favourite TV program at the moment is The Block.  I enjoy watching Escape to the Country, Better Homes and Gardens and Gardening Australia.  I feel a little old writing those but I do enjoy them.
7. How do you stop the hiccups?
I usually just breath deeply and slowly.
8. What is your favourite drink?
My favourite drink is white tea and I do enjoy a chocolate milk too, I'm very radical aren't I :)
9. Name (3) things you would need to have with you if you were stranded on a desert island?
I would have to have my family first, my camera and a notebook with pen.
10. What makes you happy?
My children smiling and chatting to me; green grass; bush walks; fresh quality food; family; crafting; photography and having a loving supportive husband.
11. What is your favourite song currently?
Rather Be by Clean Bandit

Make bread for dinner, go to the organic shop, organised Easter treats for the class,
sew, crochet my shawl (yes I am still going but oh so close to finishing it) and most importantly Mum's coming over for dinner.

Are you a list maker too?
