24/365 Birthday Sewing

My youngest daughter will be celebrating a birthday soon and she mentioned that she might like something homemade.  It has been a little while since I have done some birthday sewing but how sweet that she would like me to make her something.  Being a teenager I don't think I could sew clothing suitable other than pyjamas so I thought that a little purse and then I would fill it with things for her to have her own manicure set.  These are the fabrics I selected for her.  I really like the softness of these fabrics.  I hope she will like them too.

My Creative Space

It's been a while since I've joined in it seems, a while since I've had anything much to share of the crafty variety.  But this last week I've been doing a bit of crocheting.  My brother and sister in law are expecting their 3rd baby in a few weeks so I've started this Rainbow Ripple Blanket I found on Ravelry. I decided not to make it a rainbow of colours because I don't know what gender the baby will be so I thought a plain colour like white would be perfect for either a boy or girl.
I also made myself this crochet flower brooch, the pattern found in this book. I plan on putting it onto a bag that I'm still to sew up for myself.
There was also some fabric decision making for Miss 12's birthday party.  This bundle of fabrics is going to be made into some bunting to hang up at her birthday party.
I'm joining in here today.

Yesterday

the little one and I got a little bit of time to ourselves.  Molly needed to have her haircut at a new clipper, our regular lady moved to S.A. sadly.  The new clipper lives close by to a lovely local water attraction, so we decided to wait the hour until she finished. We went to the supermarket, picked up some fruit and a magazine and headed to the park.
Ate our blackberries
and watched the ducks.  It was nice to have a bit of one on one time together.
Today is our last day of holidays, the books are almost finished, 43 covered 3 more to go and I only have two at school!  Monday is the start of a new year, and a new school for Miss 7.  I hope it will be a good year for her this year, it's always so scary starting somewhere new (for me too) but her sister will be close by if she needs her.
I bought some new fabric the other day, a bit for me and a bit for Miss 7, a new bag for each of us.  One just for me, just because and one for her, a gift for her birthday coming up. It's going to be a busy week, school and birthday preparations, I'll will be feeling the end of the holiday well and truly I think.

Have a wonderful weekend

Sunday

It was a late night for even me last night, 1am I got into bed.
I was in the groove and got a burst of motivation and ended up doing lots of pinning and cutting for both baby presents and the start of my handmade Christmas presents.
A little more fabric was needed for another library bag so I made a quick trip to Spotlight.
A surprise visit from my parents and my Nan meant there wasn't much creating happening today, there's always tomorrow I'll be on my own with the girls heading back to school sadly and back into the routine.

Lovely Mail

Yesterday I had a great day getting lots of bits of pretty in my mail box.
I received this lovely book in the mail from Amanda after being the lucky winner of her giveaway and I'm thoroughly enjoying reading it, thank you so much Amanda.
And in preparation for a special niece who is turning one soon I bought some bamboo flannel to make her a poppy doll and some bamboo towelling to make bibs and burp cloths for a couple of mother's to be.
This organic fabric I'll use for the baby gifts and for the poppy doll clothing.
I love organic food and we love making anything with chocolate in it so as a special treat I bought some chocolate chips and some Australian organic olive oil from here.

I haven't been shopping in ages it's not something I enjoy doing often anymore but I did enjoy this moment of internet shopping. Now I just need to start making but with it being the girls last week of holidays together I think we'll just try and hang out, crafting might just have to wait.

Have a wonderful Wednesday

Friday, August 12

I've been busy having fun visiting some of our local op shops recently, some I've been to before and also a couple of new places.  At one of the new places the other day I spotted this mirror and just knew with a bit of paint it would be a great addition to the big girls room so today I went back to buy it, luckily it was still there.
And these lovely bits of fabric I picked up from my regular, go to op shop.  The brown fabric is an old curtain, the browns caught my eye and I thought it would be perfect for a bit of wall art for my craft room. Not sure what to do with the other fabrics yet, I really like the idea of a picnic rug using vintage fabrics. I'd also really like to find some of that bright vintage fabric I've seen in blog land but I haven't had any luck yet.

Have a wonderful weekend we're off to the Ekka.  Have you got any weekend plans?

My Creative Space

This week I been creative with paper. Last week I showed you my next project, making some journals for my sister in law to keep a record of all things to do with her new baby. Well I didn't quite finish them all, but only have one to go. I had lots of fun making them and enjoyed doing a bit of stitching on them, just for something a bit different.

My friend's daughter is having a birthday soon and I was trying to get some ideas for presents when she asked if I could make her a library bag, absolutely I said. One of her favourite colours are blue so when I picked up these crochet doilies from the local op shop I had to find some blue to go with it so I could use them. So this will be my next project for the week, I'm not sure if there will be too much crafting going on though because holidays start next week, yeah!

Pop in and visit Kirsty's to see some other creative spaces.

My Creative Space

In my creative space today is some muffin making and a bit of measuring. I did my usual Monday baking but it's all gone so I thought I might give Meagan's delicious White Chocolate and Strawberry Muffins a try. And the measuring is for my little nephew who turns two this weekend.
I went out on Tuesday and explored a new material shop. I think I spent an hour just looking before I bought anything and resisted the urge to buy any more fabric till I finish things I've already started but it was hard.(lol) So I got myself some cute little boy fabric all ready to make my nephew one of these cozy car caddies.

Thanks for popping in. Why don't you stop by Kirsty's to see what other crafty goodness is being created in blogland.

Happy Creating:)

See you again soon.

My creative space

today is all about creature comforts, literally:) It is so cold here in sunny Queensland, really it is, some nights it's been 1 degree and I don't want our new little puppy getting cold so I'm making her a dog blanket.

Searching through our local library's craft book section I found this book called Vintage Crafts and brought it home to have a closer look, don't you just love libraries! Anyway I spotted the dog blanket project and have started it but was wondering does anyone have any hints on how to cut fabric square? I usually cut a pattern out of brown paper for smaller projects but because the fabric needs to measure 86cm x 74cm it's too big for me to do that. I'd really appreciate any advice you might have:)

For my crafty ladies please go visit Kirsty to see what's everyone's doing this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Day 12

Hi there! Just a quick post for you tonight because I'm trying to stick to some goals that I made for myself today and one of them was to get to bed by 10:30pm so I may be a bit late but I'm going to try my best. I still haven't made the birthday card that I planned on doing tonight so I need to get to that tomorrow. So I thought I would share with you the fabric I bought on the weekend. I bought the Ditto Dots and Sea Beauties by Micheal Miller for some little girl skirts and Kitchy Kitchen by Robert Kaufman for a bag to give as a gift. Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
